1 in 15 of the asylum-seeking young people we work with do not have a mobile phone. No mobile phone means no contact and no connection. They’re cut off from vital Home Office updates, essential online resources, and support.

By simply donating your old phone, you can make a huge difference.

 

Got an old phone lying around? Here are the requirements:

– Phone needs to be wiped/factory reset

– Chargers desirable but not mandatory – the handset is the most important

– No sim card required

– No smashed screens please

– Any phone from in the past 10 years will be okay e.g. iPhone 7 or above, Samsung, Huawei, Google, Motorola, Nokia – all welcome.

How can you get it to us?

Drop any handsets off at our Chilypep Youth Hub – 11 Southey Hill, Sheffield, S5 8BB – anytime Monday to Friday, 9am to 5pm.

OR Post straight here in a padded envelope.

Without a phone young people struggle to be contacted by the Home Office regarding their asylum claims, cannot access government websites to access support and cannot communicate with new friends/contacts here in the UK or those they remember the numbers for back in their country of origin.

Young People need a phone of their own!
